Kalanianaole Avenue between Akepa and Kioea streets in Hilo was closed for about four hours Tuesday due to a two-car collision.
Police say the wreck was caused by Kapualaniwaiola Michiko Egami, 22, of Hilo.
A traffic advisory was issued at 6:36 p.m.
Egami was arrested and charged for DUI, accident involving vehicle/property and driving without a license.
Police reported the road had reopened at 10:43 p.m.
No injuries were reported. Traffic was diverted down Nene Street.
The wreck also damaged a mailbox and utility pole.
Roger Keller, distribution manager with Hawaii Electric Light Co., said the pole didn’t carry electrical wires.
It was used to stabilize another utility pole, Keller said.
He said it would be replaced by today.
